Associate Professor Patricia Wood is a proactive leader, creative problem solver and champion of community, business and education partnerships empowering and inspiring enterprise with added value and fun. Patricia joined the Global Policy Institute in November 2012 as a senior research fellow for creative industries.
With an international background, educated in thirteen schools, Edinburgh and London universities she conducts, partners and leads international projects as an entrepreneur, thought leader, keynote speaker, talent mentor, enterprise judge, media commentator, curriculum adviser, external examiner and ministerial consultant in China, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Caribbean, Turks and Caicos, Cuba, Russia, Romania, France, Germany, Netherlands, Finland, Greece, Cyprus, Switzerland, Turkey and UK.
In 1987 she was the first UK hospitality industry female to be conferred with a Master’s degree with the thesis ‘Hotel Productivity Models in Berlin and London’ advising on strategic publications with the National Institute of Economic and Social Research.
A frequent book reviewer for international publishers she is co-editor of ‘The China Reports – Culture and Creative Industries’, Springer 2013.
An adviser to the PhD VC Scholarship 2011 team ‘Culturepedia-Artificial Intelligence in Cultural Mapping of Global Cities’. Director of the International Alliance of Cultural and Creative Industries 3rd Symposium. Founder partner of the applied research centres: International Association of Culture and Creative Industries, International Institute for Culture Tourism and Development, Institute for the Study of Cuba. Member of Cities Institute Creative Industries group and Arts Interlink.
Enterprise ventures include joint director of the International Association Cultural & Creative Industries, founder of the Edu Tourism Chinese residential programme and the Anglo Sino London HEI Rising Star at Houses of Parliament, receiving the Global Entrepreneurship Week High Impact Award 2011.
A partner with the Confucius London Institute for Business at LSE and with Chinese ministerial, university and industry seminar delegations to London. Creator of numerous corporate talk series Business Futures Dialogues, London Business Dialogues – Meet the Entrepreneur, Cuba 20/20 Vision.
The founder partner of the first UK University IBM Smarter Planet Lab 2012.
