Heinz Theisen is a Senior Research Fellow at the Global Policy Institute and Professor of Political Science at the University of Applied Science (Katholischen Hochschule Nordrhein-Westfalen) in Cologne, Germany.
Heinz studied Political Science, Sociology and Constitutional Law at the Universities of Göttingen and Bonn. From 1984 until 1987 he was personal Assistent of the Rector of the University of Bonn.
From 1987 until 1990 he researched at the interdisciplinary Forschungsstätte der Evangelischen Studiengemeinschaft in Heidelberg on „Politics and Genetic Engineering“.
From 1991 until 1997 he taught as Professor of Political Science and Constitutional Law at the University of Applied Sciences (Public Administration) in Cologne and in Brandenburg.
As a member of the „Transformation Programm oft he Federal Government of Germany for Middle and Eastern Europe“ he taught „Democracy and Government“ for Civil Servants of the former GDR and Sowjet Union, primarily in Brandenburg, Moscow and Minsk (Belarus).
Since 1997 he is teaching Political Science at the University of Applied Science (Katholischen Hochschule Nordrhein-Westfalen) in Cologne. Between 2004 and 2016 he was head oft he exchange Programme with the University of Bethlehem (Palestine).
Numerous teaching experience in Eastern Europe, China, Israel, Palestine, Jordan and Iran.
He is a member of the selection committee of the Liberal Foundation Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit.
