Following a period of transition that has seen a move away from Cold War non-alignment and a wary mistrust of global markets, India has emerged as a globally oriented, economically open, and dynamic state. In the absence of a clearly discernible ‘grand strategy’ that might be guiding the rise of India in the global system, competing narratives have been presented.
